A) Creativity

Instead of simply answering the question like, 'How have I become more creative during my A level course', think about answering the question 'Have I become more creative?'.  This will provoke a more evaluated respond and increase the marks that you will get.

When looking at creativity think about the pros and cons of using the software and technology that you did in order to create all of the products.  Talk about how some options may have been limited, such as in the foundation portfolio and how this developed as you were able to branch out further into other media forms during the production of your advanced portfolio.  Talk about hardware in this respect to.  In the second year during the advanced portfolio, did you have access to more advanced hardware such as; better cameras, better computers, better recording equipment etc.

--------------------------------

Creativity can be when you take the codes and conventions, putting your own spin on the work to make it unique to what you're creating.  It's kind of how you choose to do something different.  Not necessarily ignoring all of the codes and conventions but putting your own style on them.
It can also be exploiting possibilities, such as using different camerawork such as a variety of angles to improve the visual impact.  When writing the essay, make sure that you focus on the different ways that you did this and highlight how it impacted the end result of creativity in both the foundation and advanced portfolios.

Questions to Answer:

  1. What features of your work would you say are original to you?
  2. Which media texts and producers have influenced your creative decisions?
  3. How successfully does your work engage its audience and provoke its interest?
  4. Consider some of the creative choices you had to make during the course of your production - how to use cameras, lighting, dialogue, colour etc.  How did you make these decisions, and how did these contribute to the final production?
  5. How did digital technology/ real media texts/ research and planning/ post - production give you an opportunity to express and stretch your creativity?
